As you probably know, Malarvadi Arts Club is a really famous novel. Stunningly written and without any grammatical or spelling mistake, it starts with the moving story of Kotakkadappuram Mathew Mohan. Mathew is the son of a rich family whose father refuses to care about him or show love since he's an illegitimate child. He joins the army as an amateur soldier and manages to escape from death at one point before coming back home to be treated like dirt by his father. As Mathew narrates his story, though, he begins "learning things" that explain his life in a way so different from what everyone else thought it was. The story is the coming of age of Mathew, who for some strange reason has never experienced love before. He keeps meeting girls, but he seems to find nothing special in them. He talks to his friends about similar strange experiences. His sole passion in life is painting. He's tremendously talented, but no one knows that since he does not even know it himself! The support given by his friends and the love of his sister helps him develop into an amazingly great artist while he attends college in Palghat. The turning point in his life is his first exhibition, which was a great success. However, he still cannot understand the reason for his success. He gets more and more confused about the subject of love. He does not understand why he can't be happy with what he has. His obsession with love ends up being the cause for his greatest downfall. The novel was made into a Malayalam movie that went on to win the National Award for the best film in 2007. The novel was also adapted into an English play performed by the Malarvadi Arts Club (Malayalam: മലയാളം) in the year 2013. Next to this, other adaptations include Tamil and Hindi versions. "Malarvadi Arts Club" is an example of a popular novel that was adapted into many movies, plays, or songs. The popularity of this novel is unparalleled through all these adaptations. This makes sense considering the vast amount of metaphors and similes used in the novel itself, which are impossible to translate into different languages without losing some meaning. Also, the novel is very well written. The strong characters and describing style combined with the fact that this is a coming of age story make Malarvadi Arts Club incredibly popular. The novel was made into a Malayalam movie that went on to win the National Award for the best film in 2007. It also won two Kerala State Film Awards for Best Screenplay (Sree Sankar among others) and Best Cinematography (Ajith). cfa1e77820
